My house got broken into today.
They took all of my mom’s jewelry, watch and pin collections, basically all of her personal belongings.
They took the pearl necklace my dad got her for her anniversary and the opal earrings he gave her.
They took the bag of small baby teeth my mom so carefully kept safe for 14 years.
They took 7 jewelry boxes, including mine.
They trashed our house, smashed the windows.
They took my gold bracelet that my friend Dan gave me when I was 2 years old.
They took my whole jewelry box, and probably dumped everything into a dumpster because they couldn’t sell it to a pawn shop.
And they found the safe.
The fire safe. They took it.
It had all of our passports, social security cards, bank account information, a college bond set up for me by my aunt before she died which is worth thousands of dollars, our entire coin collection including one I bought in Switzerland when I was six.
It also had my birth certificate and my parents’, along with three books of my dad and I’s squashed penny collection.
All gone.
The only thing they missed was my gold scorpion necklace.
The one my aunt gave me before she died from cancer, because our zodiac signs were both scorpio.
I am wearing it and I vow to keep it safe.
I’m so scared though.
Because my mom came home from lunch and saw it. Which means it happened after I left the house and before my mom came home.
Which means they watched me leave the house this morning.
They watched me all the way before smashing our window.
Plus we had to close our bank accounts so now we will be late on the rent payment…
